Instructions for Authors


Reviews and Original Contributions: Review articles and original contributions should be approximately 1,500-3,000 words and should include references, not to exceed 40. Use of subheadings in the main body of the text is recommended. Photographs and illustrations are encouraged.

All articles will be reviewed by independent peer reviewers. The American Medical Society reserves the right to edit articles for clarity and to modify the format.

Documents should be sent by e-mail. Acceptable electronic formats for text are WordPerfect, AmiPro, and MS Word. Send graphics documents in .TIF (TIFF), .WMF (Windows Metafile), .EPS (Encapsulated Postscript), or .CGM (Computer Graphics Metafile). The preferred font for graphics files is Ariel or Helvetica. If possible, convert Macintosh files into one of the suggested formats.
