Stages III and IV A or B disease
More than 90% of patients enter a complete response and 70 to 75% are cured. Another 6 to 8% of patients obtain very good partial responses to the chemotherapy but have either residual palpable adenopathy that has not changed size over the last two cycles or have persistent mediastinal disease that is gallium-positive or PET-positive. Nearly all these patients can be induced into complete response with the addition of involved-field radiation therapy.
