INITIATE DEFINITIVE TREATMENT OF UNDERLYING DEFECT
Definitive treatment of the postabsorptive hypoglycemias requires correction of the underlying defect whenever possible. When that is not possible attempts must be made to increase exogenous or endogenous glucose delivery and to limit glucose utilization. Judicious use of snacks is a useful component of therapy for the long-term treatment of chronic hypoglycemia. Frequent feedings are sometimes necessary.
