Autologous stem cell transplantation (SCT) is limited by potential reinfusion of occult tumor cells. Allogeneic transplant (AlloSCT) may increase the cure fraction by eliciting graft-versus-tumor (GVT) effect. Investigators have obtained durable remissions by administering donor lymphocyte infusions (DLI) for relapses. A newer technique, which also elicits GVT, is "minitransplantation," a nonmyeloablative but immunosuppressive therapy with AlloSCT.
