Aggressive lymphomas are the diffuse, large B cell lymphoma, primary mediastinal lymphoma, anaplastic, large B cell lymphoma, anaplastic lymphoma of T and null cell types, peripheral T cell lymphoma (PTCL), and mantle cell lymphoma (MCL).
Untreated patients with favorable prognostic indicators should receive CHOP followed by involved field radiation therapy for large or residual disease. Patients with unfavorable prognostic features should enroll in trials designed to improve outcome. Although European studies have demonstrated that high-dose therapy with stem cell rescue (Auto [A] BMT) offers a better chance of cure, others have failed to confirm these findings.
