Patients with high tumor scores at initial diagnosis are entered into trials using alternating triple therapy (ATT), with intensive non-cross-resistant regimens. For patients younger than 60 years of age, responders to two cycles of therapy undergo further standard dose therapy or ABMT on a randomized basis. Patients older than 60 years of age receive high-dose CHOP or modified ATT.
